The variety of tights available in the market has made making a choice quite hard. To give you some help with choosing the right one, let’s look at the differences between fine and opaque tights.

Fine tights offer more visibility than opaque tights, but both have their own characteristics when choosing to wear with an outfit.

The main content in fine tights is nylon, and there are number of variants in terms of denier and shades, making it possible for you to find one to match your needs.

Under skirts or when you need some evenness with your skin tone, choose fine tights. There are various other finishes which go well in different circumstances: from matte and sheen versions to darker colours for the workplace.

On the other hand, opaque tights are normally made of wool and are thick enough to not you see through them. They have a larger range in terms of colours and patterns, and are of the best use in winters as an extra layer to face the cold.

There is significant different in the care both tights need. While snags can develop in both, opaque ones have more durability, with fine ones having a tendency to ladder beyond repair more quickly.

Thanks to their thickness and stronger content, opaque ones have reduced chances of any tear developing. However, to avoid any “bobbling” effect, machine wash should be on a delicate cycle in a mild detergent.

So, while both types differ significantly, they each have their need when matching with an outfit. It’s advisable to have opaque and fine tights in the wardrobe. You never know when you may need one!
