There are a number of ways to re-use those tights and pantyhose which you have used extensively past their use. For a few of the practical uses, read on.

  • Old tights that have been washed can be added to your kitchen arsenal, as a strainer for jams and other items, or even as a filter for wine.
  • Quite similarly, you can use the tights to remove lumps from old paint.
  • Nylon strips, with their abrasive nature, are great as a nail varnish remover without the chemical presence staying for long as it dries quickly.
  • Laddered tights can form an extra layer in winters, instead of being discarded.
  • Rolled-up or sock-stuffed tights are great for buffing shoes, giving a lovely shine!
  • By cutting off the feet, you can use tights as a carrier bag.
  • Keeping them in your glove compartment is useful, as they make great emergency fan belts.
  • Sand-filled tights make draught excluders.
  • Fill up your cushions with them.
  • Fill them with items like lavender to make fragrant sachets, which are great to use for refreshing your drawers and wardrobes.
  • Thicker varieties of tights can be used as dusters.
  • Use your old tights as first aid items, either as slings or band-aid to apply pressure on the wound.
  • The porous and stretching nature makes them of great use in t garden. Tying tree branches, supporting young trees, protecting patches from children and animals; check out the botanical gardens in London for how this works!
  • Using your imagination, tights can play a part in a variety of children crafts. For example, stretching over a coat hanger makes them fairy wings. Give it a try!
  • We condemn the robbing of banks as it is illegal and dangerous. However, like stockings with bunny ears, tights can be used as disguise by those wanting to rob banks.

So, quite a few ways of re-using your old tights and pantyhose! Before tossing them out now, give a quick think if you can find a way of using them.
